The Nile Meets the Mediteranean - Exploring Jewish Civilization, Past Present and Future

Marcia, Veronica and I head back to Israel to celebrate its 75th Independence Day and how far the Jewish people have come since the dark days of pogrom and Shoah. It will be the first time I am in Israel during the country's holiest week -- the Yoms -- Yom Hashoah, Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha'atzmaut (Holocaust Remembrance Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day). While most of our time in Israel is spent in the company of 300+ Jewish leaders from Boston on a federation mission, Marcia and I explore Egypt on our own -- the land of the Pharoahs, and the Greek, Roman and Islamic civilizations that grew on the Nile and the precarious places that us Jews carved out for ourselves during those periods.
