Alan's European Trip 2014

I am returning to England after leaving Cltheroe, Lancashire with my family in 1963 at the age of 14. A lot of water has passed under that bridge, in fact many bridges have been swept away and rebuilt in the years since I left. I am not going back to try and recreate my past, but to try and create a whole new raft of memories to take with me into the old folks home. Living most of my life in Australia and New Zealand, I have grown tired of beautiful natural scenery. What I want to experience is to be overwhelmed by all of the wonders that the imagination of man (sic) has created over the centuries in the form of architecture, art, music and sculpture. This will hopefully be the first of several trips over the next few years, and I intend to spend a month here and a month there with the help of airb&b host accommodation. This year I will spend a month in Valencia, a month in Paris and a month in Manchester. A couple of weeks in Tokyo, London, Madrid, Barcelona, and a few unknown locations will round out the trip. Hell I am a not very fit 65, and hope that I am up to the challenge. Europe here I come....
