Ice and Fire, Al and Pete's intro to the addiction that is cruising

Another 'from the past trip'. This was our second holiday together and our first cruise. Bit spur of the moment - saw an ad for a cruise that combined a week of Alaska, a week of Hawai'i with a few leisurely days sailing across the Pacific in between. We'd both said to each other that we'd like to go to Alaska and Hawai'i and here it was on a platter. The best bit was that it would be on a luxury ship!! Had never booked a cruise and were a bit cautious about going with an internet agent, (how times change, in 2011 would you do it any other way?) so we booked with Flight Centre and all we will say is never again. They charged more than anyone else we met and really, once they'd got our money, didn't want to know us. So... what we did - a night in Vancouver at the Sheraton Wall Center, 18 nights on board Celebrity Infinity - seven night Alaska (Ketchikan, Juneau Hubbard Glacier and Sitka), 11 nights Hawai'i (Kailua Kona, Nawiliwili, Lahaina, Hilo), then two nights in Honolulu before heading home. Maybe if our first cruise had been with P&O out of Oz we mightn't have been bitten so bad. If you're gunna take a cruise, might as well start with a good one I suppose :)
