Some Place Warm....How About Key West?

Sometime last fall Sandy said, "I'd like to go some place warm next January." I was thinking, Florida, Arizona or Hawaii. She wanted to make sure it was going to be warm. I figured I'd go as far south on the continental US we could go....Key West. We had been to Key West many years ago, but didn't stay very long. And we are not staying too long this time either, only four nights. But we hope it will be a warm respite from the Illinois winter. Wanted to fly out of BMI. Sorry, cost prohibitive...and that hurts me being on the Airport Board, But the cost was even more from PIA, CMI and SPI. But I found a couple of flights from MDW to Ft. Lauderdale on Southwest which were pretty cheap and then figured we'd drive the 2-3 hours down to Key West. That's still our plan as I send this first note out. I haven't blogged since we got back from Europe in May, 2014. Oh, you don't care to read my blog...that's ok, no hard feelings, just delete it. The writing is therapeutic for me if nothing else. Since Bryan has a full time job now (yea!), we hired a nice young lady who Kevin adores to come over early for the next three mornings to get him off to school. Bryan has to be at his job by 6:00 am. Kevin leaves for school at 7:00. Not to fear, all neighbors know we are going and are watching our place for us. What a great neighborhood in which we live. I usually stay at HI Express or other IHG facilities. Not this time. Sprang for the Ocean Key Resort and Spa. Figured I'm not getting any younger and we may not make it back down there again in my lifetime. And as I like to say, "If I don't spend it, the kids will." Not taking my clubs, but taking my golf shoes, balls, glove, tees and range finder. I'll play, but probably only once and not worth the effort lugging the clubs along. Got all packed and ready today. Sandy's been ready for two days, I think! Just awaiting the 3:45 am alarm and hopefully out the door by 4:15 for the 8:10 flight. Sandy said we're going on vacation. I told her, we're retired, we don't get vacation days!!! She said, OK, we're going on at trip. I'll buy that. More when I know more....looking forward to it!
