Travels with Emma - New York State

Emma and I were roommates on the Explore Caucasus trip in the fall of 2013. She had not been to the US yet so I invited her to visit New York the next fall - 2014. She was able to come for two weeks and wanted to see New York City, the Hudson Valley including Sleepy Hollow, and Niagara Falls. We squeezed in a bit more in-between. I really enjoyed showing Emma different parts of the state - I fear I may have enjoyed it more than she did. We had some lovely days at the start but our time in Niagara Falls and the Finger Lakes was cloudy and rather bleak. The fall colors this year were a bit disappointing. We hit some brilliant yellows and a few oranges but very few reds. The Adirondacks and Catskills were past peak by the time we moved north from NYC.
