Winter Getaway in St Lucia

Marleen and I had talked about another winter break trip. We missed last year but geared up for one in 2019. Grace joined us and we started planning. Marleen, being an ace manger, got the ball rolling with Simone's AirBNB at Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, the northern end of the island. We soon had dates and flights, and all we had to do is wait. There may have been just a hint of trouble on the horizon when we left. We managed to get around and see most of the sights, with the help of Kirtland, our favorite taxi driver and a few substitutes. Since we were at the Northern tip on the Atlantic side, we really only had access to one nearby beach and Marjorie's beach bar and restaurant. Everything else we needed transportation. We visited the capital, Castries, Soufriere, Rodney Bay, the Pitons, waterfalls and mud baths plus the Diamond Botanical Garden and Pigeon Island National Landmark. Our last night we went for a sunset cruise to the Pitons and got to snorkel. The B&B was very nice and had a gorgeous pool with warm water!! We had some lovely restaurant meals and tropical cocktails - all for a wonderful time. With more news of the Corona virus, we were a little anxious on the flights back, but made it. Marleen was brave and drove to and from JFK, for which I am very grateful!
