Who needs Tacos when you can have Mexican Sushi- Travels to the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula

Seeking Serenity in the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula The days of $1 street tacos, beach huts for the bargain price of $10, and deserted beaches all to yourself may be a thing of the past. Mexico is no longer the bargain vacation destination. Those days are long gone. The reality is finding tacos at all. Meals have been replaced with the latest Asian fusion dish, sushi and wood fire pizza. Trendy spas with raw food bars, and even plenty of Starbucks. Mexico has even become as very popular destination for yoga lovers as myself, seeking peace and serenity in a foreign land with a mix of sun, sand, and amazing choices of food. Mexico is no longer attracting the cheap getaway but the hipsters and trendsetters looking for the next exotic hotspot. I'm , sort of in the middle of all this. While I love the zen atmosphere, I also really like to seek the less traveled path, being part of the less discovered places, and staying as far away from the mainstream . On this trip , I will travel with one of my best friends, and long time travel partners , Christine, to a few new places, one many of you may have already discovered on a day trip from Cancun, Isla Mujeres. Known for its turtle sanctuary , and underwater sculpture garden, and laid back atmosphere, swapping golf carts for cars to get around the island. A night in Cancun, which I have never actually been to. I've flown in here many times, but never made it to the city . I know it's not really my scene. It's built up, and there's plenty of Starbucks and I bet an Outback Steakhouse too ( why would want to eat that in Mexico?) but I have to mark it off my list. ( not the Outback, but Cancun. ) They say it truly has the prettiest beaches in the world. I will let you know, I have a lot of other to compare it to. Then I'm off to Holbox Island , a couple hour journey by bus, and ferry, north of Cancun. Little is known about this island, which is the exact reason I'm going there. It's said to be " what Mexico used to be like" no cars here either. Just sand drifted streets, and empty beaches with nothing to do expect decide where I'm going for dinner. One of my favorite ways to spend my vacations. Then down to a place that captures my heart every time I go.. Tulum. It's we're you can go feel like you flew to Bali, but brought along the beaches of Thailand, and all the food from around the world with you. If you can tear yourself away from your yoga class and hammock. This is where the cool Hippies, more like hipsters go. This place is Eco-chic, trendy, and has some of the best beach food you can find. You may not find any tacos, but that kale, spinach and papaya shake will make you forget all about it.
