QATAR GUIDE #1: In Doha for 2 weeks

We are visiting Doha in a few days and for me it is another challenge. It sounds interesting and more or less I can imagine what to expect. I have heard that it is not actually a country that attracts many tourists -mostly businessmen visit it but at least we take the trip in a nice season and we are going to spend some time with our children there. With this coming trip we are in a way extending 2 more weeks our summer holidays. The weather has changed in Greece and it has been raining continuously the last 3 days. On the other hand in Qatar the temperature gets better and better each day. We chose to fly in Qatar this time of year to avoid heat and humidity, even though tickets were very expensive. We cannot stand the heat, humidity and dust! It is also the beginning of the peak season and there is a big holiday ....something like our Easter. I don't expect to see much natural beauty of course but I want to feel how it is to walk in a modern city built on sand. I am ready for it. I believe it would have been hard for me to stay longer than a month the maximum out there if I had to. It is however a country that treasures the past and welcomes the future and this makes me look forward to visiting it. My aim is to travel you virtually and make you feel and see what I see through photos and videos. I don't know how well I can do that and I know for sure that it is a country that people get bothered if they see you taking photos and of course I don't want to find myself in jail. Laws are very strict out in Qatar but I will do my best. I did some studying these last few days on Doha and I can't wait to take you along to the Opera House. We have already arranged for the tickets. I also want to visit one or two museums, see a few hotels and dine in some nice restaurants. I like trying different cuisines and I am ready for a kilo which I am sure I will gain ....but ready to lose it when back. (lol) Definitely you won't find me going shopping or spending time in Malls to buy clothes or accessories. I wish I find the time to visit the fish market and buy prawns, lobsters and fish which I love, and also buy several exotic fruit. I am not interested on markets with souvenirs or anything similar. Ok. Are you ready for the trip? If yes, fasten your seat belts, sit comfortably....the plane won't be waiting too long on the ground! Make up your mind if you are to follow or stay back. I expect your comments as always and I hope I see new followers joining us on this new trip.
