Cape Town to Victoria Falls
I last visited South Africa in 1992. It was a time of big change in the country. FW de Klerk's "whites only" referendum had just approved the reform process which would signal the end of apartheid, nations around the world were lifting their sanctions and the country was gripped by cricket fever as, once again recognised as a test playing nation, the South Africans battled heroically in the World Cup scoring successes against many of the world's cricketing giants but losing controversially to England in the semi-finals. I shall again be visiting my brother, a resident of South Africa, and am looking forward to seeing how the country is looking in 2014. But first I am off on a little jaunt, a three week expedition which will take me and my companions from Cape Town, through Namibia and Botswana to Victoria Falls.
