Lake Erie: Birding the Islands with Road Scholar
Last year when we did our 26th Spring Migration Trip to Lake Erie, we went to Point Pelee in Canada on the Jet Express from Port Clinton. We stopped at Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island and picked up a group of Road Scholar participants who were led by Tom Bartlett, a long time friend. He does the big sit every year at Magee Marsh to raise money for Black Swamp Bird Observatory. We pledge every year giving an amount for each bird that Tom spots while sitting in one spot near the west entrance to the Boardwalk. We checked the trip out on Road Scholar and decided we would take the trip this year. It began on Sunday afternoon, May 5th and ran through Friday, May 10th. We stayed through Sunday, May 12th, staying our last two nights at our usual B&B on Sand Road on Catawba Island.
