Around the world through the Middle East

The Causeway Challenge has become the preeminent Scrabble tournament in the world. Held every year in early December, the premier division attracts 50 of the top players from around the world, battling each other for 45 games in 5 days for a top prize of $30,000, up from $20,000 last year and $10,000 the year before that. While our esteemed organizer Michael Tang has hinted that he may at some point move the tournament to some other locale, for now it's held near the actual Causeway--the bridge connecting Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This means that for the foreseeable future, I'll be traveling to Singapore every winter to play Scrabble, which of course means tacking on a great journey as well. This year, that journey is an around-the-world trip, from East Asia to the Middle East to the U.K. before heading home. Stay tuned for further details as the trip approaches!
