Roatán. Go Dive!

When Sara was 11, we took her back to Hawaii for the first time since she was 6-weeks-old. She wanted to see where she was born. While visiting Maui, we signed up for snorkeling with a group, and Sara was frustrated that she was so buoyant she couldn't get to the bottom where "all the good stuff" was. One of the instructors taught her how to dive down in her snorkel gear, and after that we saw her only when she was up for air. For over an hour she dove ten feet down to check out the bottom. That girl needed to scuba dive. I figured that once the initial equipment was acquired, it would be a pretty affordable hobby. How much could a tank or air cost? Turns out it's $8 where I live. About that time all we needed was that tank of air was when it happened. "Hey, why don't you guys come with us to Roatán?" And THAT is why scuba is an expensive hobby. A lake and the Savannah river are not on a diver's dream destinations. Roatán is, and it's pretty high on that list for scuba diving. So we were going to Roatán.
