Northern Ethiopian Cultural Tour Oct/Nov 2017

Touring with Wild Frontiers on their Northern Explorer historical circuit. Taking in the dramatic Simien mountains, Gonder and its ancient castle complex, Axum, where the Lost Ark of the Covenant 'supposedly' resides plus several ancient steles, Lalibela, Africa's Petra, with its complex of rock-hewn churches, eastern Tigray and the Blue Nile falls at lake Tana. Our tour includes a 3 day hike through villages in conjunction with the charity TESFA (Tourism in Ethiopia for Sustainable Future Alternatives). In Uzbekistan we were immersed in Islamic culture and in Ethiopia we will see ancient orthodox Christianity plus some stunning scenery.
