Tahoe Skiing and California Road Trip, Spring 2012

It's time to hit the road again. I've determined that I haven't been at home in Denver for more than two weeks at a time since early July of last year. (I am blogging this trip somewhat after the fact. That record will last into August when I take my summer travels this year into account). It's also time for another ski trip in what's turning out into a very active ski season for me. I managed to get a timeshare trade week in late March at Heavenly Valley. So you may ask, "If you live in Colorado, why do you want to go to California to ski?" Well, as they say, because it's there! I recognize Colorado has some of the best and most consistent ski conditions around, but skiing is an overall experience, not just pointing your sticks down the hill and tearing it up, so some variety of scenery and terrain and ski towns is welcome. Vail Resorts owns Heavenly Valley and Northstar-at-Tahoe resorts and acquired Kirkwood ski area earlier in the season, so the skiing there is included for me in my Vail Epic Season Pass. I was planning to spend the week with a friend from Arizona, but she ended up having to drop her plans to join me after experiencing a work-related injury which put her out of commission for skiing. But why drive all the way to California without also heading to the Bay Area for a while? I continued on to San Francisco to spend some time in the city and do some touring in the area, altogether another good road trip of several weeks.
