Southern California Road Trip, Spring 2009

The itch to travel and find new places to visit is ever present. Although I've traveled extensively around the western U.S. there are still significant pockets that I've missed. One of those areas is the California desert, which I've passed through on the way back and forth to Southern California but have not been to the National Parks and Preserves like Death Valley and Joshua Tree. It's also been close to twenty years since I was in Las Vegas. It's not a place that appeals much to me, but I figure it's changed enough over that time that it should be interesting for a day or two. I also plan to visit some friends in Los Angeles and take in the Getty Museums and Huntington Museum galleries and gardens in the LA area. That all should keep me busy for about two weeks on the road.
