Central Mexico, Spring 2023

Mexico is probably my favorite country in Latin America, which is a good thing because it is also the closest and easiest to get to. Since 2005 I have done four significant trips in the country, but there is so much more to see, so many more places there literally still “on my list”. Now it is time for a fifth trip, but this one is short by my standards at just over two weeks. I’ll be flying into and out of Mexico City for a two week road trip around central Mexico escorted by my Mexican friend Rodrigo who lives in the Toluca area about 40 miles west of Mexico City. He’s planned a detailed itinerary that will mostly take in places I have not seen before even though I’ve been in the general region of the country – Valle de Bravo, Queretaro, Tula, Veracruz, Xalapa, Costa Esmeralda, Orizaba, Ixtapan, Cuernavaca, Tepoztlan, Cholula, among others. The only places on the planned itinerary not new for me are Puebla and Mexico City, both of which I like and have a lot to see and do.
