The great Outback trip of 2011

This is the travel log for the Great Outback Trip of 2011. Originally devised over a few beers, bourbons and red wines at Terry and Tanya's van at Eppalock over the Easter 2008 break with Terry's now famous words "do you want to come on a trip". Many hours in the planning and preparation, its itinerary schedule has coincided with what can only be described as a '&%*$ of a time for Terry and Neil, and also coincides with what appears to be the wettest wet season on record for the Top End. Should be a fun trip. Terry did say he wanted to get up there while the water was still flowing, not sure he meant from the sky though. We can be contacted through the VKS737 Radio Network messaging service via their website at www.vks737.on.net or by phoning (08) 8287 6220. Note that you will be asked for.......... Our name (given and family name) - Our callsign (which is Mobile 1042) - A general location for us if known - Your name - Your phone number - The message that you want us to receive ! You have approximately 1 minute for the recording. We should receive your message during scheduled radio transmission each day with the VKS737 network. We have the ability to call you back on a radio telephone in emergency situations (its not a mobile phone, more like a cb radio complete with 'Over and Out') You can email us at our normal email addresses while we are away, but it may be up to a week before we respond via email. The Itinerary has been entered for the trip for each intended stop. Items marked with *itinerary* contain the planned stops. Comments, photos and changes will be made as we go along and the *itinerary* mark will then be removed so that you can see where we have been and what we have done. Some hints on using the site. All maps have the ability to show you either a map type view, or a satellite image view similar to Google Earth or a hybrid of both. The Hybrid view is the best. Look under Map options or the Terrain button. The timeline (which is the little grey bar with the green balls on it) is interactive. Touch your mouse on it and see what happens. You can also click each item as well. This is an easy site to move around in. Click and see what you can find. Enjoy our trip as much as we are. See you when we return.
