Susie and Dave's Big Adventure

A couple of years have passed since a slothful night in front of the TV, watching other peoples' travels, resulted in the germ of an idea to undertake an adventure of our own. The TV program that influenced us most was probably a reenactment of the Peking to Paris motor rally. For an old 'petrol head' this is quite an exciting prospect but the idea of surviving nearly five months in a leaky old vintage car was not very appealing so we decided that we would do it in a comfortable, yet reasonably capable 4WD vehicle. Should we ship the vehicle to China to start? Naaah! Let's start from home (Christchurch, NZ) and that's what we did early on the 29th March, to catch the ferry to the North Island and the start of our big adventure.
