The European Sampler

My partner, Steven, and I celebrated our 10th anniversary on July 26, 2014. To mark the occasion we had breakfast in France, lunch in China and dinner at home, in Australia. It took us six weeks to get to Paris for our anniversary breakfast because along the way visited 27 cities in 13 countries - all of which is covered here in the blog. Until recently this holiday would have been impossible for us because for a long time I had kidney failure. Then on July 13, 2011 I had a transplant, Steven had given me one of his kidneys, and it changed our lives completely. So we also celebrated the third anniversary of the transplant while we were away. That's why it was such a big trip - there were important things to celebrate. In setting up this blog I learnt that TravelPod allows readers to donate money to authors. I'm trying to raise some money, but not for myself - I'm collecting for the RPA Transplant Institute (in Sydney, Australia). The institute holds research studies into transplant technology and improvements, as well as providing support for liver and kidney transplant patients via the RPA Transplant Unit - where Steven and I had our transplant. To learn more about the institute visit their website at www.rpatransplantinstitute.com.au. If you'd like to make a donation click the 'Support My Travels' link, otherwise read on. All the best, Rune
