2016 Trans Siberian Railway

"Omsk to Tomsk on the Trans Siberian railway" or in our case Beijing to St Petersburg. Then on to Latvia and Wonderful Copenhagen. We are travelling with our friends Kit & Helen - Tony Observes our preparation: We were off to Vietnam, Laos, & Cambodia .... Oops ... It's the wrong time of year. So we have made a slight detour to China, Mongolia & Russia via the Trans Siberian Railway. Now every good journey needs adequate planning but when you have 2 frustrated Project Managers, an Accountant and a Marketing Executive, the degree of planning, over organizing, and re checking needs to be seen to be believed. Admittedly, the 'fear of the unknown', or the 'Vladimir' syndrome is probably real and needs consideration & planning else you could be spending the next 10 years in Siberia doing hard labour. Just to get the necessary Visas for the 3 countries was an excersize in itself. the Russians want your full history, where (& when) you have travelled over the last 10 years and how many times a day you go to the dunny. Planning included the Cryllic script / Alphabet - and the conversion of ALL the station names, so that we had them in both Alphabets - do you think we have a fear of NOT getting off the train when we should - and getting left behind ! It won't matter - We challenge any traveler with early onset of dymentia to make head or tail of this system.
