We Can Call It Kili Now
With the possible exception of Everest, there is no other mountain in the world that evokes the passion among would be climbers as Kilimanjaro does. At a height of nearly 20,000 feet Kili is the highest mountain in Africa, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, and is one of the highest in the world that does not require technical mountaineering skills to ascend. That said, climbing Kili is not to be taken lightly- it can present itself as truly hospitable and allow for a scenic and relatively painless climb to the top, or it can lash out in anger at anyone who presumes an easy conquest.
What we encountered was a truly angry marvel of mother nature.
