We are now officially self funded retirees. Never thought I would be so happy to say that!!

Last year my husband Rob retired after 40 years working for the Bureau of Meteorology and travelling from one end of Australia to the other on numerous radar installation and maintenance trips.

I enjoyed a long, face paced career in the Victoria Police Service until we moved to Queensland where I worked in the aged care industry. It's always been our dream to travel the globe when we retire so now we're living that dream.

Our plan, albeit very loose, was to start the journey in my birthplace of Cyprus via a stop over in Dubai, before travelling on to Huddersfield, Yorkshire where our son has been living for almost four years. We would then buy a motor home and travel around the UK and Europe over summer before heading back to the milder climes of Cyprus for the winter.
