Yes, Organ Pipe Cactus is a thing. Watch for probably a gazillion photos tomorrow.
Saw a few interesting things today: on highway 62 in San Bernardino County, CA, there is a ghost "town" called Rice. Apparently there was a military base here in WWII, and after that, some train business. Nothing there now except an old gas station shelter and a fence and a tree, all decorated with shoes. Go figure. I did not take the photos--we did not stop--but had no trouble finding them on the Internet!
The hotel we're in is the Sonoran Desert Inn and Conference Center. You can organize your own big event here, and they will cater it, or you can bring your own chef. We did neither. We'll eat in town. Used to be a Catholic Elementary School. Kind of an amazing plant. Posted a few photos.
