Ponta delgada, Azores, Portugal
. .
After 6 days at sea, we woke up to a pleasant sight, LAND! We arrived at Ponta Delgado at 10 am and couldn't wait to get off the ship . Though we decided not to hurry, because that’s what everyone will do. WRONG, most of the 2000 passengers came to the same conclusion. Therefore, we got caught in a looooooooooooooong line waiting to get on the shuttle bus, which took us from the pier to the town center. Oh well, no problem. We just talked to people in line and the waiting became (almost) entertaining. After a 5 min. ride we arrived in the very picturesque town center. There was lots to discover and we enjoyed our walk through the whole town with its narrow cable stone streets. While Jim went back to the ship (the buffet was calling him), I went along the shops. It was good timing, because all of a sudden a big cloud decided to empty its contents and rain onto my shopping parade. I was lucky to be in a small mall with Wi-Fi connection. Couldn’t get my e-mail going but there was Facebook available. I was able to quickly send out the latest picture(s). The pictures on this blog should be telling the rest of the story.

Dear Nelly and Jim, finally you reached the so called Holy City, just one day before Easter. Remember the old saying: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do!" Some like to see the Holy Father, the Pope, and others like business as usual and robbery. Be careful in the streets and on overcrowded places. If you should see the Holy Father then greet him! Thank you for all the updated reports. My last comment reached you on March 27 in Florida. - Best wishes and greetings, Cousin Ernst and Verena
