Princeton, New Jersey, United States

I think I was feeling a little stir crazy after a week back
in the old folks’ community mostly at home with my mom and her caregiver during
a lot of cold and snow . It’s a sunny day and I need to get out!

I walked around campus at Princeton once a few years ago and
stopped in the art museum. If I recall correctly I was a little pressed for
time before closing because of an earlier commitment in the day and didn’t
spend that much time in the museum. I said I’d return, and on a cold March day
a few years later I’m back.

A few years ago I posted some posted some pictures and a
blog entry of that trip to Princeton’s campus. I couldn’t resist taking some
pictures again today because the campus looked so different and so beautiful in
the snow and bright sunshine.

Princeton has a quite nice art museum with a collection much
larger than those of most university museums. It is especially strong on non-western
art with the entire lower floor dedicated to classical antiquity and Asia and
the Americas. The museum also has a more significant number of European
paintings than most small art museums in the U .S. have, actually quite a bit
more European than American art on show.

I don’t get to Princeton very often even though it’s only
about 15 miles from my parents’ house in the retirement community. The
restaurant selection nearer by seems to be geared toward the tastes of a largely
elderly population around the retirement villages of central New Jersey’s
Little Florida. So I made it a point to look up a place for much that would
satisfy my craving for so all-you-can-eat sushi, something for which I have a
favorite spot in Aurora when I’m in the mood when I’m in Colorado. Bingo! Massa
Sushi in Nassau Park shopping center was pretty good, and right next to Walmart
for my shopping convenience.
