North Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia
As the title suggests, today has been one of travel. Mostly sitting on my ass waiting to get to the next waypoint in the trip.

I woke just before my alarm, at 05:56 this morning . I was worried I'd sleep in and miss my flight..... Up showered and washed my hair. ( you can't arrive looking shabby can you...lol.) I did a quick tidy up of the flat. I had planned on cleaning last night so there wouldn't be much to do this morning... But tiredness and procreation won. I must admit it was a rush clean up job... I have seen the place look better....

Car packed and loaded I set off towards the airport. It was just after 7:30. Luckily Liz had a greed to start work early so I could get a good start to the day. Initially I wasn't worried about travel time as my flight wasn't until 09:50. I was booked into the long term car park at 08:30. So by reckoning I had ample time. That is until I hit the early morning peak hour traffic. It took me almost half an hour to travel the length of Thomas road. Ok I was getting a little worried.

Someone must have been looking out for me as I made it to the long term parking lot just after 08:30 . Panic abating. That is until I learn of my mistake.

I jumped on the free airport shuttle bus and headed off to the terminal. Well so I thought. When I got to the terminal I was advised that my flight now left from the new terminal over near the international terminal. Aaaarrrrghghg. When I made the booking virgin still operated out of T3. My printed itinerary even stated that. But of cause now that Virgin had their own brand new terminal.. The departure place had changed. Luckily enough the shuttle to the international airport was still sitting at its stop.. So bundled myself on and away I went to the correct terminal.

If I had of just checked in last night online I would have realised this.... My car is now at the wrong terminal so the homeward trip will be just that little bit longer as I need to catch the two shuttles in the opposite direction on my return.

Anyway, now I'm at the right place I can begin to relax . The search begins for some sort of breakfast as I thought I'd save time and not have it at work. Alot of the outlets are good in that they offer vegetarian meals.... Not many though offer Vegan. I finally found some fruit salad and a soy coffee... And I was set.

By this time it was almost time to board..... Good thing I got the early start. Finally on board I settle in for the 3 hour trip. Hitman agent 47 was my movie of choice. Tried out my new headphones.... I'm not sure if they are not that good or the aircraft was extra noisy but I found it hard to hear over the sound of the wind over the wings.

Arrived at Melbourne airport right on schedule. Navigated my way through the terminal and found the Skybus stop. Looking out of the top floor window of the double decker bus, I thought to myself. It doesn't look that much different to Perth. Funny that. Just shows that the world is becoming a very small place...

Southern Cross Station is rather large .... Leaves perth train station for dead... Found my way to the information and checked which platform my train left from. Happy with that I set off in search of decent veganish food.... Happened upon a small Asian food outlet that cooked to order. Stir fried vegetables with rice... Mmmm. Actually really good. Sat watching the little birds flitter around scavenging for crumbs and morsels. I still had a couple of hours to kill before the train boarded so what to do?? I could go for a walk and investigate some of Melbourne. But that meant I would have to lug my bags with me.... Maybe I should just chill here and surf Facebook for a while..... That was the choice.

Time went rather quickly and before long it was boarding time. I was a little worried about baggage allowance as the details were a little vague on the booking confirmation. But I found that there was plenty of room in the overhead storage for both my bags.... I had a window seat.. Which would be good if it was a daytime trip. But seeing as most of the trip would be made in darkness I needed to find some other way of entertaining myself for the next 3 hours. Shortly before departure the seat next to me became occupied. A strange little guy, rather talkative and inquisitive. We chatted about the music scene in Perth and over here... He was very interested in the price of Realestate in WA.... Not sure why. The conversation got to crossing the Nullarbor by bike (my preferred method) and fuel costs and stops.... All in all it was a pleasant way to while the time away.

At about the half way point in the trip the cabin lights were shut off so that those that wanted to sleep could. I think I nodded off a couple of times. I then had the thought that I should be writing this blog so attempted to... Only finding that I needed internet connection to initialise a new blog... And in the middle of nowhere on a train there ain't no internet...... Buggar. As you can see by where this entry is situated I managed to get some internet around north Wangaratta.

Soon after this the conductor came to advise that we were 10 minutes out of Albury so packed away ....

Alighting from the train in Albury I looked up to see the beaming smile of Emma, who had come to pick me up. A friendly warm greeting and a short ride, via maccas to Emma's place, where we chewed the fat for a little while until Emma had to go to bed. ( she was working in the morning and it was almost midnight local time... Only 9 ish my time)

I splayed on my bed for a while adding more to this blog entry until I myself started getting sleepy..... Then went to sleep myself.

So not a bad effort I think two car rides, 3 bus rides, an aeroplane ride and a train ride.... This might be setting a challenge for this trip as to how many different types of transport I can utilise.... We will see.. Night!
