We planned a
relaxed time today after yesterday’s long journey, so we walked down the prom
towards the city, pausing on the way to purchase my one souvenir: a fridge
magnet. The shop owner tried to overcharge us greatly at €6: we knew they were
only €1 in the alleyway near the museum so I did my one and only haggling
session and gave in at €2!
As it was Sunday,
the prom was full of families enjoying the sunshine & there was a really
nice atmosphere. We strolled up through the little zoo & Valley of the
Birds, where there were goats, peacocks, and in fact caged birds of all
descriptions but very crowded with families enjoying it all.
We decided to get
the Petit Train back to the hotel – although it was much dearer than a taxi, we
wanted to experience it & got a short tour of Agadir. The driver was kind
enough to let us get off right outside our hotel as we really didn’t need to go
back into the city.
The afternoon was spent by the pool in the sunshine then the evening in the bar with our English friends listening to (mostly good!) karaoke by the French contingent (all the well-known song words were in French with just a few virtually unknowns in English. No discrimination there then!) We also made the most of our all-inclusive status, which we have discovered suits us very well. I have never seen such huge quantities of spirits being served though, but of course I didn’t participate.....
