I think it is getting warmer

Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Tuesday 23rd August 2016: this has been a day of travel, getting us from point A to point B. We coach to Port Elizabeth, the 4th largest city in South Africa which is famous for its car assembling and associated industries and exporting of same. Due to the automation of these industries, Port Elizabeth has high unemployment and its associated problems. We are travelling fairly close to the coast with farming areas and pine forest - and cross those two rivers ravines that we saw yesterday - one bridge we cross has a 212m bungee jump from it, run by a NZ company. Ezach our driver and Steve our local guide converse in Africaans when they are talking together - they are both white if you are wondering. At Port Elizabeth we bid farewell to Ezach, he takes the coach back to Cape Town and we fly to Durban - an hour and a half flight.

The two Steves both tell us 'you always get one or two hotels like this on the trip, but never mind it is only for one night' - you just never know when they are having you on - the Oyster Box turns out to be the ultimate in colonial charm and style, right on the beach front with a paved boardwalk and our bedroom and balcony overlooks all of this. It is warm and sunny when we arrive, but quickly cools down as soon as we go for a wander along the beachfront. Formal dinner tonight.
