Aberdare National Park, Kenya
Tuesday 6th September 2016: Today is a full day of travel In the safari land cruisers, back over that corrugated, bumpy road, past Nairobi and heading north to Aberdare National Park. We leave at 7 and Steve says it will take us 10 hours to do the 450 km, with comfort stops, traffic and road conditions. The number of cars, trucks and people on foot, all mixed up together is astounding. Leaving Nairobi suburbia, we go into an area that has good rainfall and and is quite tropical - we are almost at the equator - lots of pineapple farms, all tropical fruits and then into rice growing. Nyeri a larger town is where Baden Powell (Boy Scout founder) was born and buried. Aberdare Park was founded in1950 and takes In the Aberdare Mountain Range, so we are high up tonight and it is fairly cool. We are staying at The Ark which was built on 1969 and is right next to a waterhole with buffalo and elephants watering so far.
