Saturday 8th August 2020: We leave Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park at 9.00 - it is still blowing this morning so Mark is the only one to brave a beach walk at 6.30 and says it was freezing.
We arrive into Cable Beach Caravan Park at 2.30 - it is huge with lots of nice big trees. John has already found Avon & Janene Warr who are here for an extended stay. Finally we can sit out under the trees and enjoy our fish cooked on the Baby Q - no wind, just a balmy night.
Sunday 9th August 2020: Lovely restful Sunday. Had a delectable lunch at Zanders which overlooks Cable Beach and then we hired 2 deck chairs and an umbrella and watched the world go by on the beach. Avon & Janene were watching the Eagles as we came home so we saw the end of the game – wow those Eagles are good at coming from behind.
Monday 10th August 2020: First stop today was to be the Visitors Centre – we caught the bus ($2 each for seniors) right outside the caravan park – it seems everyone had the same idea today as the Visitors Centre was very busy, but we finally got our trip to Cape Leveque and one other booked – just John and I. Late coffee for us again at the Paspaley Plaza – a shopping centre based around Coles. We met up with Mark’s friend from Corrigin who is up here visiting his son and our plan was to have lunch with him – both our options in the main street were too busy so we hopped in his vehicle and ended up having a great tour trying to find somewhere to eat – Monday, lots of eating places are closed, so we ended up at Divers Tavern which is very near our caravan park for a late lunch and it was lovely. Before this we had gone to the town beach area, a good swimming area with turquoise waters and the foreshore has in the last couple of years had millions of dollars spent on it Greg said. The restaurant here was just packing up due to a power failure. Following around to the Port area, lovely views and their own ‘natures window’ which is really only a gap in the rock when you go further around.
Margaret & I caught the bus into town in the evening to go to the Sun Picture Theatre to see ‘Loving Sarah’ – what a blast from the past laying back in deck chairs under the stars with the big screen in front – memories of Mullewa days and the open air movies which were housed on the side of the Town Hall. Taxied home with 5 others who were coming this way as well. John and Mark chose to stay home and were watching the Dockers win when we got home.
