Back to Broome for a couple of days

Broome, Western Australia, Australia
Wednesday 19th August 2020: Back to Broome for us today – firstly we walk to the coffee shop and have a talk with the owner – she owns the building and when the last tenants who ran a coffee shop didn’t renew their lease she decided to do an upgrade and open herself in 2018 and it’s as good as any coffee shop with great service. An incident free drive over another very good WA road.  We go into The Mango Place Broome (about 15 kms out of town) for lunch and can recommend their Mango Smoothies and Mango Juice, just delectable in a casual setting amongst large trees and palms. Marg and Mark moved from Cable Beach Caravan Park to the RAC Caravan Park today and we are booked in there tonight and they find us a bay close to M&M for tomorrow night as well. We ate together tonight  - Marg had made a potato bake in the skillet – yum!
Thursday 20th August 2020:  Today we are meeting Doug and Vic Fong for morning coffee at The Green Mango Café.  We take the van in as we have to move to another spot in the park and this time we are going to be nice and close to M&M. Vic was in the same year as John at High School and also went to John Frewer Hostel as he was a Broome boy. This was our first contact since those school days and didn’t we have some memories to share. Doug is 6 years older, but seemed to know who we were talking about all the time. They have both gravitated back to Broome after having careers elsewhere in the State.  Doug as a teacher and Principal and Vic in hospital administration. Vic came back to Broome a few years ago to help look after his aging mother who passed away in April at the age of 102. It comes out as we talk that they own the building we are sitting at and the next door shop which is a dress shop – both leased – and they live at the back and top of each. According to the internet, Doug is a real historian of Broome – they are both low-key but certainly have their finger on the pulse. Vic has a grand-daughter at Shenton College  - in year 12, Christine. With so much chatter, I forgot to take a photo, but John has found this on the internet which would be a couple of years old. Vic is on the left, Doug and his sister at the back. 4 generation photo.
The Fish-man is calling at the park today, so we are having fresh fish with M&M tonight – Mark is a whiz on the Baby Q.
