Wednesday - departure day - saw us crawl out of bed feeling like we had been ridden over by a pantechnicon. No, we were not hungover from Friday's party or from having had a weekend surprise visit from our family ex Jhb & Cpt, nor would it have been from Sunday's lunch at home with the Morgan's from Gotdons Bay. We were 'man down' with the dreaded wheesy Chest Flu
where every cough felt like your head and chest were about to explode not to mention a fever and headache that followed
. 'Tough takkie' as the saying goes!! Nothing was going to derail our Bush Jol for 2016. Get over it and carry on regardless!! Which is exactly what we did and dosed up with an array of medicinal potions, we hit the N1 via beautiful Robinson Pass and Oudshoorn and met up with Carol & Peter, our traveling companions who, by the way, had also not escaped the dreaded Knysna community viral infection.
Beans about Coffee on High Street in this 'ostrich drop' was a welcome respite where one could indulge or 'pig out' on the numerous mouth watering cakes and coffee specialties on offer in this quaint establishment. Worth a stop if you ever get to travel through Oudshoorn.
After our overnight stop at Kuilfontein Cottages, having experienced a torrential downpour after dinner we put foot to our next rendezvous where we were kindly hosted by Lynne in Jhb for the night. We caught up with Kate, Warren & Laurel, Barry & Gee and Robyn & Franc over a fabulous dinner, then still feeling like death the next day, we visited a Doctor friend of Robyn's to get medication to knock our flu bug on the head.

Oops, sorry to hear about the dreaded flu. We didn't escape either!
Hope it passes soon, which it surely will and then you can get down to enjoying yourselves. Looking forward to the next post.
Best wishes, Doug & Fern,

Well you have been there and got a million T-shirts. Well done for persevering in the dark ... A bit harrowing to say the least. Sure the warm weather and special camp will do wonders. Hugs to you all.
PS. We did not escape the bug either!!!!!!!
