What an amazing few days! At the end of last week, I thought it might be an idea to see if our local paper, the Leighton Buzzard Observer, fancied running a piece on the walk and my fundraising efforts. 'Sure, send in an email', they said, almost dismissing the idea. So, I sent in an email and then..............all hell breaks loose!

I get an email back, 'What an incredible story', they said and I thought, blimey, it must be a slow news week. No, they said that they loved the story and wondered if they could speak to Lucia's parents. I put them in touch with Fiona and James and the next thing I know, I'm attending a photo shoot at Fi's house last Monday. Lots of cute pictures later and then we're told that, with any luck, the story would be in the following day's paper (the LBO is a weekly, every Tuesday).

Well, I'm playing golf the next morning and I get a call from Mandy. Not only is the story in the paper, but it's all over the front page and on page 4 as well!! If the truth be known, the article is a super piece focusing on Fi & James and the lovely Lucia; I'm a bit of a by product really, but so be it. The article is fantastic publicity for Little Hearts Matter and I also got a plug in for my Just Giving page, which was the main reason why I approached the LBO in the first piece. And here's the really amazing thing. Since the piece was published, my Just Giving page has gone mad, with nearly £300 in donations coming in this week, many from complete strangers. Now the LBO may not command the widest circulation and the article definitely isn't gonna win a Pulitzer Prize, but as they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity!!!
