Highlight Settling in with Jane and Ian.

The flight to Frankfurt had not been looked forward to. On a similar flight a few years ago Chris had badly swollen feet and legs for a few days. 

However, this trip was so much better. We had seats in the middle so it was easier to get up for leg stretches and the food was tasty. John’s sleeping table helped and he slept for 6 hours. Chris had half that and watched 4 episodes of Colombo. John also watched the Bruce McLaren movie that he had been keen to see.

We had a long walk through Frankfurt airport to get to the next gate but then had to wait over an hour before our London flight. It was uneventful but we did get great views of London as we arrived to pleasant weather. We then spent nearly as long in the immigration queue as the flight had taken from Frankfurt. The lady we dealt with however was very pleasant. 

Once we got our bags and purchased ‘oyster’ (travel) cards we trained to Hammersmith to be met by Jane and Ian. We stopped for coffee on the way to their home. We had an explore of their house and met Jenson and Wooki, their cats.

After we chatted, unpacked, chatted, lunched, chatted and shopped, it was time for Katherine to arrive and have tea with us. She left to finish her packing and we went for an early bedtime. John now has an ‘ee’ sim card for his phone and a UK number. Chris has plans to get a ‘three’ sim card like Katherine's. We now have transport and communication sorted for the week.
