A day in the hotel

Paphos, Paphos, Cyprus
Our last full day here and a day of chilling. We did a short walk to the next bay along, where George Grivas’s statue & the sculpture tower over eveything but decided not to swim as there was very little shade & no sun beds with parasols. It was very hot so our balcony became the spot of choice for the morning.
This afternoon saw us at the pool: thank goodness the 6am-towel-on-sunbeds gang aren’t here this week. In fact, we had a choice of sun beds every day at any time, which is a refreshing change - Russians don’t seem to claim them & leave them for the day like many Germans and Brits do! The pool is a lovely area with many sunbeds around, some on the paving but many more on the large grass patch behind it, although its quite soily & not very green.
Tonight was Greek night in the restaurant, and very tasty it was too (I had lamb koftas) – but the desserts had to be seen to be believed. Yes, there was the usual souvlaki & honey cake, but the mousse-type things were the most luridly coloured I’ve ever seen. R chose to go the colourful route & assured me it was all tasty, but I stuck to souvlaki! Cypriot dancing was on the stage at the bar - 2 men & 2 girls in national dress but slightly underwhelming as the music was really same-y, and not a patch on the Irish trio if we’re honest. The G & Ts were still 70%  gin though :)
