Oy. When I arrived at my hotel--booked a year ago, and not so easy to find one for the whole Brier even then--I discovered that they closed the hotel part 5 months ago. Obviously I didn't get notified That is a very bad moment. You get to a hotel in the one town in Canada which is guaranteed to be full to the rafters for the next 10 nights and you don't have a hotel reservation. The guy at the ex-Knight's Inn did at least call and get me a room at the Motel 6 until next Wednesday. I stopped at the Comfort Inn and they can take me Friday-Monday, and she thinks the manager can fix it so I can stay there Thursday, but I have to talk to her tomorrow. It's all going to cost me significantly more than double what it would have, but at least I have a room. I was not in any position to be picky. And I must say: the Knight's Inn was a D-U-M-P dump. It needed to close. So I have traded way up--the Motel 6 is quite nice. See photo.
That is way too much excitement for one day. I ordered pizza to be delivered (never did that before) and will go to bed after I figure out the logistics for tomorrow. Opening ceremony is at 12:30 and there are two draws--2:00 and 7:00. I will probably leave in between to eat and/or do some work. After tomorrow, it's three draws a day: 9 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. All the curling you could possibly want! Stay tuned!
The temperature, by the way, is -8F right now. High of 0 tomorrow. Wind chill tomorrow night around -40F. No more complaining about how cold it is in Virginia! :-)

Enjoy it! It's my favorite sport, BTW. And it has the best TV announcers! (Love it when they whisper.)
