Shaowu, Fujian, China
Hey Hey and a Big G'Day toya

Here is the SECOND of the 'Uncle Shane Do You Eat Cats & Dogs & Bats & Frogs'
food entries.

Besides eating dogs, cats, rats and bats I manage to also sit down to a bowl or two of very normal food once in a while. Over the past week I've chosen my favourite little 'hole in the wall eateries' to sit at and take some happy snaps for my friends and family so they can see what I 'normally' eat during the week.

And not a health inspector in sight!

Over the past year and a bit that I've been living in Shaowu city I've managed to eat my way around most of the cities pokey little restaurants. These ones are very much at the top of my list for both their delicious food and the happy smiles from the owners and the people that eat there.

Most also seem to have less 'Bugs & Crawly Things' racing around the place.

OK, TO TODAY

Today for lunch I headed to one of my favourite dumpling eateries. The dumplings here are hand made and are so fresh and juicy. You order as many little bamboo trays as you think you can eat and you can also choose a soup to go with it. To the soup you can also choose a type of noodles from the selection they have for that day.

I eat enough noodles so I usually choose more dumplings.
What type of soup you choose is pretty much up to you.

You have a nice selection of inners and outers and things that used to walk or fly.
Today I chose a delicious olive soup to go with my dumplings.
The poor 'bird thing' looked like it was still in pain.
I chose to leave it for someone else.

For dinner I headed to another favourite 'hole in the wall' of mine.

My buddy Malina took me to this place not long after arriving in Shaowu. They specialise in what are known as 'Flying Dagger Noodles'. Most eateries that make these noodles use a special little knife/dagger to thinly slice and create the noodles. This place uses a specialised tool created just for these noodles.

It allows the noodle to be much thinner and longer than when a small knife is used.

Add to that some tasty spices
Then add some tender beef and you have one hell of an awesome bowl of noodles.
They say these noodles are even fit for a king.
I say that happily they are also fit for me...or I them!

Beers N Noodles full of creepy crawlies toya.....shane

PS: The little shack thing in the 'Another Beautiful Ride' photos IS what some of you may think it is. For those that have no idea, it is a kitchen that is used by several families. Rain, hail, shine, freezing brass monkey weather, it doesn't matter, this is the kitchen these families have to use.

It was taken in a tiny little village I ride through most lights.

When you think of how cold the winter was here in China this year along with how many bugs there are during summer way out there in the fields where this village is located, maybe walk into your kitchen and look around and simply smile....life is good for many of us...try not to forget that!
