Great Weather in the ACT??????

Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia

 21st - 27th November

Canberra? To escape bad weather? Sounds nonsensical right? Anyway that's what we did, and we had a really good week of it as well. The bad thing about Canberra is that it's full of Politicians, Public Servants, Federal Police, and Real Estate Agents....and we were staying with the latter! Magic (Greg) and Anita are old friends who hail from when we worked in Austria in the early 90's, and since they were good enough to host us, we were good enough not to mention Real Estate Agents (most of the time anyway).

The great thing about Canberra is that there is so much to see and do which is free (if you discount that it's our taxes that keeps this place going). We visited the Australian War Memorial, the National Portrait Gallery, The National Library to see an exhibition of maps, Bunnings and Masters (because Magic is useless and so Anita had Roscoe doing running repairs and putting up shade awnings).

As Anita and Evi are Austrian it has become a tradition to go for Schnitzel at the Austrian Club where we were joined by other ex-Austria mate Fi and Jacquie. The next night was a catch-up with more ex-Austria friends Ugly, Jackie, Gary & Lee-Anne.

Our Nephew, Marcus, is one of those Public Servants who lives in Canberra and we had a long brunch with him and Katie and kids. All in all a social week, hope I haven't forgotten anyone!

Almost forgot, it was Roscoe's mum's birthday on the 21st....Happy Birthday Mother!
