Portaria, Thessaly, Greece

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY – DELICIOUS TASTES!

The ex-home of Metaxa's family and the creator of the Greek Metaxa Cognac, houses today the 1990 restaurant . It is new and totally renovated and belongs to the owners of the Portaria Hotel and SPA which is right opposite the main entrance of the hotel.

Being so close to Volos just 12 km away, it is very popular to locals. Both the hotel and this beautiful restaurant are located in the higher part of Portaria in an exquisite location.

SPECIAL OCCASSIONS: There is ample of space to park cars and it usually opens to cover special occasions like professional events and business lunches, banquets, wedding venues, children’s (themed) parties, BBQ, and gala events.

INTERIOR/COURTYARD: The interior has a cozy and warm ambience while outside the highlight of the beautiful cobblestoned yard are the two perennial plane trees. The materials used to furnish and decorate the interiors is wood and stone, and I can tell they blend harmoniously with the round environment.

BAR: The Bar has a minimalistic contemporary style with discreet lighting to cover the needs of the demanding guest .

CUISINE: It offers local and traditional tastes of the Mediterranean and the Greek cuisine.

MENU: The variety of Salads and Appetizers is tempting and they rank from €4.50 to €7.50

The Grilled variety ranks from €7.50 to €13.50. A friend of ours had the Pork and Veal chops dipped in spicy tomato sauce and it was yummy! -€7.50.

DISHES FOR TWO: A more economic option are "The Dishes for Two". It is an alternative for those who don’t want to spend much but still want to dine out. Try the lamp in the oven with herbs of Pelion for €15.50 or the other amazing dish -the Osso-buco Veal for €17.50. Both are exquisite.

I highly recommend the restaurant for all the above reasons.
