Salamanca, Castile-León, Spain and Canary Islands
Overnighting in Lisbon, we did a quick look around then the next day our Busabout bus took us to Salamanca a famous university town of Spain. The university is recognized all around Europe as being one of the best.

The uni students have a ritual after exams end of painting slogans with stencils on buildings around town with BULL´S BLOOD! Yes Bull´s blood . It is after all the heart of bullfighting country.

There is also a building with intricate carved designs, that has a hidden frog among the carvings (a bit like ¨Where´s Wally?¨) and legend has it if you find it, without being shown, you will have a pregnancy the following year. I did not even look for it! It is also supposed to bring good luck. Apparently it is very difficult to see when there, let alone in the photo, so do not spend too much time looking.

We had a very informative tour and the city looked like a good place to stay, however we were now on a tighter time frame with a Morocco trip booked and so after the tour we got back on the bus for the trip into Madrid.

Footnote: The Old City of Salamanca is UNESCO World Heritage listed.
