I try to sleep in today but am still up early - this is my holiday mode. Up before the alarm... again. Makes for some slow, leisure time in the mornings.
I was able to get ready and pack up without rushing. Breakfast was set for 8:30 AM with a ride to the train station afterwards at 9:15. I have a 9:37 train to catch for Paris !
In the kitchen, I sit with a lovely view of the neighborhood. Agnes has set the table with a beautiful variety of breakfast items including delicious coffee. She makes special touches like a smile face in my butter. My coffee cup says California on it which makes me smile. I enjoy my breakfast here.
There is also a little baby in this house. Agnes is taking care of him and brings him in to visit. He is adorable and his little toys play music and say the ABCs and 123s in French.
During breakfast, my host asks if we can leave early for the train station. I am very OK with that idea so I won’t have to rush with all my bags. Then another last minute change as he now has to run to pick up someone at the airport.
So back to near the original time which is still fine. So I finish my coffee and grab my bags from my room to bring them to the front of the house to wait for my ride to return.
At the train station, it’s easy to buy my ticket to Paris at the counter. There is time and only a small line. The Beauvais station is quite small and easy to navigate even with my leaning tower of luggage. I know have this baby bag to manage because of all my new acquisitions (read= wine) but it’s not too difficult.
My train is leaving later than I expected because it’s late but it is still arriving at the same time in Paris. I find my way onto the train and settle in for about a one hour journey.
At the very end of the journey, when I am approaching the Paris Gare de Nord train station, I look for my sunglasses and realize that they are missing. Oh no! I remember putting them on the bedside table but don’t remember putting them in my bag. They are not in their spot in my purse. So I know that they are still in Beauvais - 60 minute train ride away. I message my host in Beauvais to confirm and tell him that I will probably be returning this evening to get them - they are prescription and I won’t be able to drive in the sun for any length of time without them. Ugh :(
