San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize
San Ignacio offered the first hot shower of the trip and is a world apart from Belize city. Today I walked to the nearby ruins of Cahal Pech. Afterwards, I jumped on a chicken bus headed west and got out at a ferry that crosses the river where a road leads the the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. Ruins are basically lost ancient cities that have only recently (within the last 100 years) been excavated by archeologists. There is still a lot of mystery to these sights and the way the people lived and died. After Xunantunich, I hitched a ride the 7 miles back to town with some tourists from Vancouver Canada.

Belize is really easy to travel in. It is predominantly english speaking because Spain decided not to conquer it and it was colonized by the British. Creol is the other language but that´s just a dialect of english. I can understand about one in 10 words ... think of Bob Marley with a speach impediment and that´s what it´s like. Ya mon!

Went to dinner with my Israeli friends tonight and then played cards. They taught me a new card game called ¨Shithead¨     More on that later.
