Day 1 of the Cruise

Sunday, February 10, 2013
Galveston, Texas, United States

Our hotel in Houston comes with breakfast and after a good night sleep we are on our way back to the airport to catch the Galveston Limousine. It is an old white bus with some rust and patches in the roof. It is raining this morning and as we make our way onto the Houston freeways, it is apparent why the roof is patch and perhaps needs more repairs. The roof leaks are annoying but we get to the cruise terminal in just over an hour. Our baggage is left with the handlers, we clear security in an extremely confined and crowded area then are on our way thru check in and boarding. The whole time at the Galveston terminal is about an hour. Our ship looks very new and is in excellent condition. The lobby, stairs and elevators are crowded as we make our way to the Lido deck for lunch. The buffet is huge and is laid oout in 3 sections including the aft section next to the pool and hot tub. Having enjoyed a good lunch, we drop the hand baggage so we can explore the ship. The girls are registered in Camp Carnival, we complete the muster station safety drill and await the sail away. The usual loud performance of the sail away is replace by the more sedate cool damp weather but we are soon on our way. We meet with the Maitre 'd to change our dinner time but he says they have a big problem with early dining and will know more tommorow.
