We left in too much of a rush and neither Susan nor I were that comfortable that we had everything. Renting house, arrangements for rabbit, early birthday celebrations left a lot to do in our final eight hours before reporting. We got to the airport on time thanks to Bernadette patiently waiting while we did last minute checks There is nothing like picking up forex, filling out departure cards, and lifting off to create that much needed separation.
Finally on our way on time flying Emirates, first to Sydney for a transit as long as our leg from Christchurch and change up in aircraft to the huge A380 for the 14 hour leg to Dubai . Emirates were great; we ate and drank well and caught up on the movies that we would not watch together. Emirates' A380 provides internet and cellphone connectivity and for those upstairs in business and first class a standup bar. We were fed dinner at around midnight NZ time and breakfast before our arrival at Dubai just after 5am local. Sleep was another story. Meg provably faired best with the window seat and more room, the rest of us dosed at best.
