Prague in the Czech Republic

Prague, Czech Republic
I've put off writing about Prague in the Czech Republic because I wasn't sure how to describe this remarkable city. When I asked Cory how he would describe Prague, his first comment was that it was youthful. There do seem to be lots of young people, and the city has a vibrant and active feeling. For example, just this past weekend they held the United Islands of Prague Festival with musical groups and food stalls and people enjoying the day in multiple locations across the city. Young parents with kids in strollers, young singles and tourists alike all mingled in the parks listening to live music, drinking the really good beer, and munching on street food from stalls. We wandered between two different parks enjoying the vibe and activities.

On the other hand, Prague is very, very old with a medieval castle, old buildings, and picturesque streets that make you feel like you've stepped into a fairy tale land--until a taxi turns the corner or another tram rumbles down the rails in the middle of the street . We've seen beautiful gardens, impressive buildings, and walked across many bridges over the River Vlatva that intersects the city. We explored the Old Town square and watched the astronomical clock chime the hour with all its moving statues and parts. We visited the old castle and the fabulous St. Vitus Cathedral, a true Gothic marvel with soaring arches and sparkling stained glass.

Prague is very walk-able, and our apartment is in the center of the old town, so we can walk to cafes, restaurants, the market and more shopping stores than I have energy to enter. We've made a point of getting out daily and walking at least 3 miles. In fact, the first few days here we went out the front door and deliberately walked a different direction each day just to learn our neighborhood and see what we could discover. We enjoy our serendipitous discoveries and get our exercise at the same time.

The pictures below were taken on our walks and rambles around Prague. Enjoy!

Lovely! Great old architecture. There questions. What is the number temperature in Prague, what is the address of you apartment (wow), and how did you travel to Prague? You all are looking good. Remain safe and keep journaling. Joy

The weather has been variable. We've had some cool days (60 degrees) and a couple very warm (90 or so). Usually, though it's about 70-75. We had a couple nice thunderstorms, too. Our apartment address is at Karoliny Svetle 4, Prague 1- Stare Mesto, The Czech Republic. I booked through Prague City Apartments. Do a google search and you'll find them. We're in the Residence Karolina. We flew to Prague from Amsterdam on EasyJet. It's a popular European carrier much like Southwest.

There are quite a few tourists here, so your daughter is probably among the ones we see on the streets everyday. Hope she enjoys it as much as we have.
