Corfu Town, Ionian Islands, Greece
After leaving Portugal, we flew to Cambridge, England, to spend two days with Lorraine and Justin Robinson. We love this couple, and they always show us the best time in merry old England. We visited a very quaint little English village and had a great dinner on Thursday evening. Then, on Friday Justin drove us into Cambridge where we had lunch at Alimentum. Next morning, we all drove to the airport in the dark for an early flight to Venice where we met up with Steve and Bernie Wightman who were on their honeymoon. Since even a honeymoon is better with friends, all six of us boarded the NCL Jade in Venice for a week-long cruise of the Greek Islands.

During the week we visited the islands of Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos, and Katakolon (Olympia), Greece . The weather was wonderful--warm and sunny--and we all had a fantastic time. On Corfu we strolled the old cobbled streets and visited the New Fortress and Old Fortress.  On Santorini we took an afternoon sunset cruise. We visited the volcanic island caldera and hiked partway up to the top of the caldera. Then the boat took us to some hot springs where a few in our group swam. Lastly, the boat took us to Oia, a town on the island of Santorini, that is famous for watching the sun set into the sea. We watched the magnificent sunset off the coast of Oia, surrounded by other boats doing the same. Halfway through our cruise when we visited Mykonos, Cory and I treated ourselves to a day of rest and relaxation on the ship, so we didn't even get off the ship at Mykonos. Our last stop, Katakolon, included a visit to the archeological ruins of Olympia. We loved seeing the remains of the ancient city, the ruins of the temples of Zeus and Hera, and the ancient site of the original Olympic Games where the torch is lit to begin every modern Olympic games.

In between sight seeing on the Greek islands, we enjoyed time with our friends on the ship. We shared great meals, lots of drinks, playing in the casino, and meeting for chats and LCR games. The week passed so quickly we couldn't believe it was time disembark.

We're now in Bruges, Belgium, enjoying Belgian beer, chocolates, and the quaint atmosphere of this UNESCO world heritage city. We'll share picture and stories about Bruges in the following weeks.

Enjoy the pics!
