Last day in NZ
Heading towards the city
After everything is in the
suitcase we are heading towards Auckland, first along the windy bay and then it
gets a bit more boring, as now the roads are wide and straight and four-lanes…
wow that nearly makes us fall asleep. We decided earlier on not to do another
side trip to a waterfall as we seen enough. That means a good hour later we
reach the outskirts.
We go shopping – no more sight
seeing
We go back to K-mart and get
another dress for Gine (as we liked the other one so much) and then we head to
the supermarket, we need one more milk for coffee for tonight. Now what should
we do… it is a bit cloudy and we have seen so much, we are not so eager to
drive more around and check something out (especially not with city traffic),
we are ready to get organized for the next part of the trip. We find a spot on
a bench and read a bit and then head to the gas station to fill up the car, so
we don’t have to do it tomorrow morning. That is a cute gas station, we
couldn’t really figure out on how to pay and then the lady came out, by that
time we found the pre-pay station and then she started talking because she has
relatives on Vancouver Island who have a Chinese store.
a late check-in at our place
and no internet
we arrived 15 Min earlier, but
then on the first glance it looked like all is set, except, that it was not as
we discovered, then we tried to go online and the internet didn’t work. We went
to the house to check if someone is there, when we saw a lady coming with a car
and she apologized as she was delayed in the traffic, she cleaned the place and
talked a lot– showed us the washer/dryer and then we finally got to make our
coffee one hour delayed – which means the laundry was delayed and all was
delayed and it took nearly until 6 pm that we had internet… ok not the best
start. But then it is our last day… so what….
We hang around and read – then we
talk to the guy owning the place who has by the way 5 cars, 1 bus, 3 moto cycles
and one camper… and is a car lover… we get ourselves a pizza and wait until the
laundry is finally done (that is the slowest dried ever!!!) so that we can
finish packing!!!!!
And does everything fit in the
suitcase???
Tomorrow morning, we want to leave
a bit before 6 am, so Gine said: we pack the suitcases tonight and they go into
the car… Good choice!!!! And it was a tight fit, but we got everything inside
(and good for us they were both less than 19 kg!!!! – even we had all big
shoes, long pants and warm jackets in there….)
What was New Zealand:
Km we drove 3130 km in 4.5 weeks
and saw still only the northern part of the North Island – Wow!!!! It is a lot
bigger than we thought – but We loved it!!!
We loved the curved roads – all the
nature – the wonderful people – the great weather – the nice beaches – the waterfalls
– the beautiful landscape – the tropical plants – the super cool fern trees –
the geysirs and hot pools – the green hills – it was one great trip!!!
Good bye – Poroporoaki, New Zealand!!!
