Nibbling markets, spanish horses and Michelle

Vienna, Vienna, Austria
All had a reasonable sleep until we were woken by the neighbourhood crow doing his Vienna Boy's Choir impersonation at about 5:30am. Thank you very much.

As we hadn't stocked up on breakfast provisions we decided to head over to the Naschtmarkt for breakfasts and a look around (nascht means nibbling - so these are the "nibbling" markets) . True too as Jeff didn't stop eating the whole time we were walking around. He even managed to find a stand selling Trdelnk

Bev ordered a small Viennese breakfast which was 2 white bread rolls a croissant, jam and an extremely soft, soft boiled egg.

Lots of lovely fresh produce at the market. Everything looked so tasty and fresh and artistic too with the way they pile up the olives, feta, bread rolls, raspberries, apples, you name it!

After this we met up with Michelle. So good to see her! She is operating on minimal sleep and a double espresso from Starbucks. Still managed to pull though with a Viennese man asking to take her for a drink. These Viennese men are a frisky bunch. Bev was having a hug with one yesterday too. I obviously have to ditch Jeff to get my share of the action! Shame the Viennese girls aren't the same says Jeff!

Over to the Hofburg to see the imperial apartments after first eating some weiner and drinking aperol spritzers for lunch .

Hofburg Apartments were very flash, full of ornate and gilded everything and rooms coming out your wazoo. Empress Sisi was indeed beautiful and she worked to maintain it. She brushed her waist-length hair for 3 hours each day, had 6? Kids and still only had a 52cm waist!

After this we wandered over to take a squizz at the Rathaus then very unsuccessfully attempted to catch the ring tram. Given a few bum steers by tourist touts and hotel concierges trying to catch the thing until we all felt like we had walked the whole ring road ourselves. The Vienna ring tram will now forevermore be referred to as "that bloody ring tram". Surrendered and ended up catching the normal train back to Stephensplatz, looked around a bit more then over to Cafe Central for dinner before our Spanish horse show tonight.

Said farewell to poor jet lagged Michelle and steered her in the direction of the closest train station.

The show was quite good but while we can appreciate the skill involved, it wasn't quite as fast paced as we expected. Bev really enjoyed it though and that's the main thing. The venue is amazing too - even had chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It's just a shame you can't take photos in there. Definitely wouldn't want a flash going off just as a horse is executing a tricky manoeuvre though!

Feeling quite tired so back to Cafe Central for a pick-me-up dessert then home to the apartment for another well earned sleep.
