Today i went on a tour driving down the famous Great Ocean Road. Unfortunately the weather was less than great. But i still managed to spot my first Koala and walk among parrots and rosellas. When we finally arrived at the 12 Apostle a rainstorm created a dramatic but unfortunate setting. Although it almost made it more impressive. Before we headed back to Melbourne we stopped at the "London Bridge". So called because there used to be a big arch linking the coast with a big off shore sandstone formation. When the arch collapsed in 1990 it left a couple stranded on the now remaining island, giving them the story of their lifetime ;)
Also, today is the premiere of "ParaNorman", the movie project which enabled me to afford this trip .

Fuer heute hatte ich eine Tour auf der beruehmten Great Ocean Road gebucht. Leider war das Wetter nicht so grossartig. Allerdings sah ich meinen ersten Koala und war umringt von dutzenden Papageien und Sittichen. Als wir dann endlich bei den 12 Aposteln ankamen tobte dort ein Regensturm. Aber der machte die Sandsteinformationen fast noch beeindruckender. Bevor wir dann zurrueck nach Melbourne fuhren machten wir noch Halt an der "London Bridge". So benannt weil dort frueher ein durch Erosion entstandener Bogen das Festland mit einer Sandsteinformation vor der Kueste verband. Als der Bogen 1990 urploetzlich zusammenbrach liess er ein Ehepaar auf der neuentstandenen Insel gestrandet zurrueck. Und gab ihnen damit DIE Geschichte ihres Lebens ;)
Ausserdem ist heute die Premiere von "ParaNorman", das Filmprojekt dass mir diese Reise ermoeglicht hat.
