Slept in due to being the only one in the dorm room right now and had an excellent breakfast around the corner. I can definitely feel i am getting closer to the subtropical north. A gorgeous day for a hike. So i took the trail around Cape Byron through the rainforest to the lighthouse and back along Watego Beach. And even saw some whales floating by at Captain Cook Lookout. By the way, the spot was named after Cook's grandfather when the explorer sailed by in the 1770's.

Schlief heut' mal wieder aus, da ich mein Zimmer allein fuer mich hatte und goennte mir ein gutes Fruehstueck im Cafe um die Ecke . Man kann nun schon langsam fuehlen, dass man dem subtropischen Norden naeher kommt. Der Tag ist ideal fuer eine Wanderung. Und so mache ich mich auf den Weg rund ums Kap Byron durch den Regenwald hoch zum Leuchtturm und dann zurrueck entlang des Watego Strandes. Am Captain Cook Aussichtspunkt sah ich sogar ein paar Wale vorbeischwimmen. Uebrigens ist dieses Kap benannt nach dem Grossvater des Entdeckers, als dieser in den 1770ern hier vorbei kam.
